Morgan Stanley today announced the extension of its global technology operations to Montreal with the establishment of a new center.
The High-Tech center will support the Firm's business in New York, initially serving as a platform for six technology areas:
  • Fixed Income
  • Securities Processing and Settlements
  • Investment Management
  • Enterprise Data Infrastructure
  • Enterprise Application Infrastructure
  • Corporate Technology and Finance

Jim Rosenthal, a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley, said, "We are delighted to expand our internal operations in Montreal, one of Canada's leading financial centers that is well regarded for its highly skilled talent base.  We look forward to growing our platform here to complement our existing technology and business services centers around the world."

Morgan Stanley worked with long-time partner Compuware, a global supplier of IT services and solutions, to develop and implement a pilot delivery center.  Based on that success, Morgan Stanley is establishing a permanent center.

"Together, Compuware and Morgan Stanley have a long-standing history of success," said Jamie McGuffie, Senior Vice President, Professional Services, Compuware.  "As we move ahead, we look forward to continuing to grow that relationship by providing superior business value designed to help Morgan Stanley."

Morgan Stanley is launching its technology center with a number of local hires.  The Firm has maintained a presence in the Montreal marketplace through existing consulting relationships, and now looks to further this expansion with its own platform.

As part of Morgan Stanley's investment in Montreal, the Firm is participating in an incentive program provided by Investissement Quebec and Emploi Quebec, agencies of the Government of Quebec that will support the center and its strategic growth going forward.  Morgan Stanley has worked closely with Investissement Quebec since 2004 on technology center developmental plans in the area.

Within the past few years, Morgan Stanley has developed a network of technology and business services centers across diverse global sites including Budapest, Glasgow, India and Shanghai, in addition to the current center it is establishing in Montreal.

Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS) is a leading global financial services firm providing a wide range of investment banking, securities, investment management and wealth management services.  The Firm's employees serve clients worldwide including corporations, governments, institutions and individuals from more than 600 offices in 33 countries.
