Bank requires an Oil (and associated refined products) Trader to work in conjunction with the AsiaPac Energy Marketers, price making (and building prop positions), to facilitate Consumer/Producer hedging activities.
  • Broad indicative salary range ($A150,000 - $A250,000 )
  • Successful Global Sales/Trading team ($$$ group bonus)
  • Must have Asian Oil Market trading experience (with a bank)

This Global Investment Bank seeks an Oil (and associated refined products) Trader to join an established global trading team, in a newly created role in their Sydney office.

The primary role is to work in conjunction with the APAC Energy Marketers, price making to suit client hedging requirements. Clients come from sectors such as; oil and gas production, utilities, refining, airlines and shipping etc.

Traders also have proprietary trading limits to enable the development of trading positions and further aid competitive pricing capability.

Experience required:

  • Applicants should have a minimum of three years successful trading exotic and vanilla derivatives over crude oil (particularly Asian benchmarks) and refined oil products such as; gas oil, fuel oil and jet/koro (particularly Singapore priced)
  • Some generalist capacity to trade across the barrel is also preferred, with more specialist knowledge in certain areas (such as Singapore utility index trading) advantageous
  • It would be expected that applicants have current or recent experience in a similar role within a bank
  • It would also be expected that the applicant has a thorough understanding of the physical flat-price Asian Energy markets
  • It would be strongly preferred that the trader had at some point been based and traded within the APAC region - in a bank or similar style trading entity
  • Applicants should also be committed to working within the Sydney office and demonstrate a desire to be flexible given the global markets and varied time-zones in question (global book is run)

This is a fantastic opportunity for an Oil Trader who has been looking for an opportunity to relocate back to Australia (or has a desire to experience life in Australia) and be a part of a growing global Energy Marketing/Trading operation.

Qualified applicants should contact nick.hazlett@profusiongroup.com or 612 9240 6321 and ask for Nick.
