NEW YORK, July 15, 2008 -- Jefferies & Company, Inc., the principal operating subsidiary of Jefferies Group, Inc. (NYSE: JEF), today announced the expansion of the Firm's high yield, distressed and loan sales and trading unit.  The Firm has recently added five senior professionals to its existing effort in this regard, including Daniela Bar-Illan, who joins as a senior high yield and loan salesperson, and Richard Wright, who joins as a senior salesperson for high yield and distressed securities and loans.
Ms. Bar-Illan and Mr. Wright were both most recently long-time contributors to the high yield, distressed and loan sales effort at Bear Stearns, having spent 25 years and 13 years, respectively, at that firm.  This announcement follows the addition of Robert Harteveldt, a 24-year veteran of Bear Stearns, as Chairman of Fixed Income at Jefferies.

"We are excited to welcome these outstanding professionals to the Jefferies high yield team and believe they will enhance our sales and trading capabilities by expanding our Firm's relationship with their strong client base," said David Schwartz, Head of High Yield, Distressed and Convertible Sales and Trading at Jefferies.  "Difficult market conditions and the retrenching of key industry players have created a unique opportunity to expand Jefferies' overall fixed income offering, and these additions represent a significant enhancement to our platform."

Richard Handler, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Jefferies, added: "The expansion of the Firm's fixed income capabilities is consistent with our ongoing effort to take advantage of market dislocations and the occasional availability of exceptional individuals to join our platform."

Jefferies' broader fixed income effort includes more than 150 professionals actively trading high yield, distressed, and convertible securities, as well as bank loans, corporate bonds, US government agency securities, mortgage-backed securities, municipal bonds and emerging markets debt.
